Hammersmith

by Sean O'Brien

SOLD OUT

Hammersmith is a chapbook by the award-winning poet Sean O’Brien with the first two cantos of a projected longer poem exploring the West London region, where his parents met just after the war. It is illustrated by photographs of Hammersmith taken by the poet himself, and includes an introduction by the architectural and political writer Owen Hatherley.

“For years Hammersmith for me meant the boat race, Fulham football club and gigs at the Apollo. Sean O’Brien’s photographs show what I missed as I rushed by the alleyways, nooks and crannies, often down by the water. It is rare to be a great photographer and an excellent poet, to be good at two ways of seeing at the same time.”
Eamonn McCabe, photographer and former picture editor of the Guardian
